clean skincare.

Many skincare products hide dangerous ingredients that can have serious, long-term health consequences.

Carcinogens in your skincare routine can slowly increase your risk of cancer as they are absorbed through your skin and into your bloodstream.

Meanwhile, endocrine disruptors interfere with the body's hormone system, throwing off balance and leading to issues like infertility, developmental problems, and even cancer.

These harmful chemicals accumulate in your body over time, silently affecting your health.

Choosing clean, toxin-free skincare isn’t just a beauty choice—it’s a vital step toward protecting your future and your well-being.

Clean skincare is a game-changer for your skin and your health! It’s all about ditching harsh chemicals that don’t just sit on your skin - they enter your body. Instead, clean skincare is packed with pure, skin-loving ingredients that nourish, hydrate, and protect without hidden toxins. No harmful additives, no artificial junk - just powerful, effective formulas designed to let your skin thrive.

When you choose clean skincare, you’re not just treating your skin - you’re protecting your body from unnecessary exposure to chemicals.

Skincare ingredients to avoid

Parabens
Examples: Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Butylparaben, Ethylparaben

Why avoid: These preservatives can mimic estrogen in the body, potentially disrupting hormones and being linked to breast cancer and fertility issues.

Mineral Oils
Examples: Paraffinum Liquidum, Petrolatum
Why avoid: Petroleum-based and pore-blocking, they create a barrier that suffocates your skin and slows its natural rhythm. Clean skin = breathable skin.

Silicones
Examples: Dimethicone, Cyclopentasiloxane, Cyclohexasiloxane, Methicone
Why avoid: These smooth operators make your skin feel soft but trap dirt, oil, and bacteria underneath. Not a long-term relationship you want.

PEGs (Polyethylene Glycols)
Examples: PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, PEG-100 Stearate, PEG-8
Why avoid: Used as thickeners and softeners, PEGs often come with carcinogenic byproducts like 1,4-dioxane. No thank you.

Chemical UV Filters
Examples: Oxybenzone, Octinoxate, Homosalate, Avobenzone
Why avoid: Linked to hormone disruption and environmental damage (hello, coral reefs). We prefer mineral sunscreens with ingredients like zinc oxide and titanium dioxide that are safe for both you and the planet.

Microplastics
Examples: Polyethylene (in scrubs), Nylon, Acrylates Copolymer, Polymethyl Methacrylate
Why avoid: These tiny plastic bits don’t just harm marine life—they can make their way into your body. Zero place in skincare.

Synthetic Fragrances
Examples: “Fragrance” or “Parfum” (umbrella terms), Linalool (when synthetic)
Why avoid: Often code for a chemical cocktail, including allergens and endocrine disruptors. If it smells too good to be true, it probably is. At yūgen. skincare essentials we do not use synthetic fragrances. All our fragrance compositions are 100% vegan, carefully curated using natural aromatic substances, with no phosphates or other synthetic preservatives involved.

Artificial Colorants
Examples: Red 40, Yellow 5, Blue 1
Why avoid: Pretty but pointless—these synthetic dyes can trigger skin irritation, allergic reactions, and worse. Your skin doesn’t need the drama.

We skip the fluff—and the toxic stuff—so your skin gets only the good vibes it deserves!
